The Monday Skeleton
Though the RVI2023 Monday movement was never intended to become a skeleton movement, its openworked architecture may have hinted at what was to come. That is because every curve, every mechanical element, every silhouette seems to have been conceived from the outset with skeletonisation in mind.
That potential is realised with the RVI2025: the iteration fully embraces its skeletonised architecture, clearly revealing all 262 components, each finished and decorated by hand in keeping with the Maison’s philosophy.
The movement
The movement features a range of traditional decorative finishes, including black polishing, bridge rounding, bevelling, Côtes de Genève, sunray finishing and circular graining. The keenest-eyed connoisseurs, meanwhile, will be able to spot the 238 perfectly finished inward angles, testament to meticulous watchmaking. The open caseback shows a decorative bridge over the barrel ratchet, engraved and chased by hand and featuring grand feu enamel, its tones harmonising with the colour of the piece.
While its aesthetic has been completely reworked by the engineers at Renaud Tixier, its revolutionary concept remains untouched: a patented mechanism that reinvents micro-rotor winding, delivering a major gain in efficiency. At the heart of the platinum micro-rotor – a space usually left empty – sits a flywheel coupled to a propulsion spring, nicknamed “the dancer.” This ingenious system converts even the slightest movements of the wrist into energy the calibre can harness. Better still, this architecture does more than improve energy recovery: it also incorporates a declutching mechanism that protects the movement in the event of a shock.
Clearly Crafted
While the skeleton dial reveals the movement in all its architectural complexity, blue accents add depth to the piece: the satin-finished small-seconds counter, the skeletonised dauphine-style hour and minute hands, and the rehaut brush-finished at the periphery, with faceted appliques on its lower level and a white minute track on the upper. The same interplay of colour extends to the strap, hand-stitched in full-grain alligator leather.
